Holiday Tour of Homes
The annual Holiday Tour of Homes is a festive walking tour of some of Sanford's most beautifully preserved and restored homes, decked out for the holidays. The tour is also the centerpiece of other downtown events, such as the Tour of Drinks and the Holiday Vendor Market.
2022 Sanford Holiday Tour of Homes
Saturday, December 3 | 12 PM - 9 PM
Self-guided | Rain or shine
On this self-guided walking tour, step into the past as you are welcomed into some of the Sanford Historic District’s most charming private residences.
As you follow the glow of luminaries down brick-lined streets, the sounds of Victorian carolers fill the air. Take in the ambiance and explore the history of the district's nineteenth-century homes. Experience historic living firsthand as residents showcase their beautiful interiors, which are sure to inspire your own holiday décor. Enjoy refreshments and homemade holiday cookies along the way.
What to Expect for 2022
This year, we're thrilled to be presenting 8 personal residences and 2 historic churches on the route. We're thrilled to include Holy Cross Episcopal Church, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2023. Also on the tour, you'll visit a home that was featured on the original Tour of Homes in 1989, as well as a reprisal of some fan-favorites.
You won't want to miss the classic car show and holiday market on the tour route! The market is open to all and will host over 30 vendors plus food trucks.
How to Attend
Purchase your tickets ahead of time to save time day-of. Tickets cost $30 per person and include entry to all homes, the classic car show, and refreshments at the homes. Wristbands and a tour map must be picked up at tour headquarters before beginning the tour.
Note that Sanford will likely be hosting many other holiday events on the weekends. While this generally won't affect parking in the residential district, you can expect heavier traffic and longer wait times for restaurants than usual in Downtown.
Parking & Transportation
Sanford offers free street parking throughout the Historic district. The tour can be attended on foot, bike or golf cart. The total route is about 1 mile.
Local residents will be offering complimentary pick up and drop off along the route, and we'll also have golf carts and Surrey bikes for rent through Sanford Tours and Experiences!
Nearer to the event we will release the event map and total distances so you can plan your route!
Please be advised that as all homes are historic, not all are handicap accessible and most have stairs to enter the ground floor. Additionally, some streets are brick-paved, which can be uneven.
